Le Jardin de Verre by Locke Review
A Stylish, Functional, and Affordable Aparthotel in Paris
After years of travel (and more than a few hotel misfires), I’ve learned to appreciate places that combine great design with actual functionality. Give me clean lines, fast Wi-Fi, and a washer/dryer over moody lighting and velvet headboards any day. But give me both? I’m in.
That’s exactly what I found at Le Jardin de Verre by Locke, a design-forward aparthotel in Paris that manages to be beautiful, comfortable, and easy to live in. I recently stayed there for six nights, and as someone who’s experienced five Locke aparthotels in 3 different countries, I can confidently say this one raised the bar. It’s also Locke’s first hotel in France and a strong Parisian debut.

TL;DR: Should You Stay at Le Jardin de Verre by Locke?
If you’re looking for a design-forward stay in Paris that’s as functional as it is photogenic, then yes. Le Jardin de Verre by Locke delivers. You get the independence of an apartment (read: full kitchenette, in-room laundry, super fast Wi-Fi) with the consistency and service of a hotel. Great for solo travelers, couples, families, really any sort of traveler. Whether you’re in town for a quick stop or a longer work-play hybrid stay, this place makes life easier without sacrificing style.

Effortlessly Stylish, Quietly Practical
Le Jardin de Verre makes a strong visual statement. The entrance opens onto café seating, and just past the lobby is a striking glass-covered atrium (the jardin de verre i.e. “glass garden” referenced in the name of the hotel) that houses the restaurant and bar. It’s a dramatic yet welcoming space filled with natural light, greenery, and sculptural furnishings and designed with the kind of aesthetic appeal that stops you mid-step.
It’s also literally camera-ready. There was a large film production that had taken over the atrium when I arrived, which tells you everything you need to know about how polished and photogenic the space is.
It looks great, yes, but it’s also comfortable. Whether you’re there with a laptop and a coffee or settling in for a glass of wine, it feels like a place meant to be used, not just admired.

Le Jardin de Verre is located in the 12th arrondissement, a quieter, residential part of Paris that still feels very connected. The neighborhood has plenty of small grocery stores, bakeries, and local cafés within walking a few blocks, and you’re a 2 minute walk from the Place Monge metro stop (line 7) and a 5 minute walk from the Jussieu metro stop (lines 7 and 10). There are several bus lines that stop nearby as well.
It’s calm and safe, and you’re not surrounded by tourists, which I appreciated. And if you’re the kind of traveler who secretly enjoys tracking down film locations (no judgment), Emily Cooper’s apartment and Gabriel’s restaurant from Emily in Paris are also just a short stroll away (I’m only mildly embarrassed that I know that and yes, I absolutely went and took pictures…)
A Room That Works (and Then Some)
My Locke Studio faced the interior courtyard, so no sweeping Parisian views, but what it lacked in scenery it made up for in silence. It was quiet, peaceful, and ideal for someone like me who’s easily woken by the sound of, well, anything.
The room itself was compact but highly functional. There was a comfy bed (mercifully free of unnecessary throw pillows), a sofa, a small table that doubled as a desk and dining spot, and a fully equipped kitchenette (small stovetop, microwave, mini fridge, pots and pans, cooking utensils, wine glasses (obvs), and even a Nespresso machine. You could absolutely cook proper meals here not just heat up a can of soup in the microwave and call it a night. Storage was surprisingly good for the size: shelving, hanging space, and a bench area near the door made it easy to unpack without turning the room into a suitcase explosion.
Since it was July, I was especially relieved that the air conditioning worked well, which in Paris is not something you can assume, even at decent hotels.
The only space that didn’t quite hit the mark was the bathroom, which was… small. The kind where you have to maneuver around the shower door to even get in, and the legroom in front of the toilet felt like it was modeled after budget airline seating. It was clear that space-saving took priority over usability, but it still got the job done. Just don’t expect a spa moment.

The FREE In-Room Laundry Situation (Yes, Really)
One of the standout features of Le Jardin de Verre was the washer/dryer combo, tucked into the kitchenette. It’s free to use and genuinely one of the most useful amenities a hotel can offer.
The hotel provides laundry powder, which is a nice touch, although it didn’t fully dissolve in the wash cycle. I ended up picking up a small bottle of liquid detergent from a grocery store just around the corner. If your room doesn’t include a washer/dryer, there’s also a communal laundry room available to all guests at no charge. This one detail alone sets Le Jardin de Verre Paris apart from a lot of similarly priced stays (including Airbnbs) and it absolutely adds to its value for longer or more independent trips.
Fast Wi-Fi, Real Coworking, and a Solid Gym Locke consistently delivers on one of the most underrated travel essentials: fast, reliable Wi-Fi. Le Jardin de Verre was no exception. Whether I was working, streaming, or handling the usual travel admin, the connection was rock solid throughout my stay.
For remote workers, the hotel offers a large coworking space on the main level with a coffee bar on the ground floor. You don’t need to be a guest to use it. It’s a relaxed, comfortable setup that works well for meetings, solo work sessions, or casual get-togethers. The overall vibe is relaxed and professional. More “creative freelancer with a really nice tote bag” than backpacker hangout or stuffy business center.
There’s also a gym onsite, and it’s better than most hotel gyms I’ve seen. Small, yes, but actually clean, with towels and water, well-equipped with everything you need for a proper workout (not just a token treadmill and a questionably clean yoga mat).
Food, Drinks, and the Locke Approach to Housekeeping
The on-site restaurant and bar sit in that glass atrium I mentioned earlier, and they really come alive in the evening. Great lighting, good energy, and an overall vibe that feels more like a local hangout than a hotel bar. There’s also a second cozier bar space attached to the lobby and the entrance courtyard.
I skipped the breakfast buffet, mostly because €20+ for hotel eggs in Paris feels unnecessary when you can get a fresh pastry and espresso for under €5 around the corner. But the dining space is beautiful, and for a drink or small plate at night, it’s well worth a visit.
As for housekeeping, Locke takes a different approach. They don’t offer daily cleanings, instead, rooms are serviced weekly, which suits the apartment-hotel setup and the longer-stay demographic they’re targeting (think Gen Z remote workers, not quick-turnover tourists). You can request more towels, toiletries, or even a mini room refresh anytime, and in my experience, the staff was quick and helpful.
For what it’s worth, I personally prefer it that way because I always end up immediately undoing the tightly tucked sheets anyway.
Rooms are spotless when you arrive, and if you want a mid-stay refresh, that’s available too.
Price and Value
What makes Le Jardin de Verre by Locke such a standout is that you get far more than a typical hotel in central Paris for a similar (often cheaper) price. A fully equipped kitchenette, in-room laundry, strong Wi-Fi, a coworking space, and even a gym are all included, features you’d rarely find bundled together in central Paris.
Over Bastille Day in July (a French national holiday for those who aren’t familiar), I paid €253/night. It was actually cheaper than any Airbnb in central Paris I could find for one person with AC (it was July so that was non-negotiable). Considering what’s included, the price felt insanely reasonable.
And unlike Airbnb, there’s no wondering if the pics will match reality. You get working air conditioning, a spotlessly clean room, and a 24 hour front desk. No scavenger hunts for toilet paper. No wondering if the “Parisian charm” just means broken plumbing. No chasing a host who forgot your arrival time.
If you’re staying more than a few nights, the value goes up. Locke offers discounted rates for longer stays, which makes this a smart choice for remote workers, slow travelers, or anyone who wants apartment-style comfort with hotel-level consistency.
IMHO, the Best Aparthotel in Paris
Le Jardin de Verre by Locke offers an unusually generous mix of comfort, design, and functionality at a price that’s genuinely hard to beat in central Paris.
Between the in-room laundry, fully equipped kitchenette, reliable Wi-Fi, and easy access to the metro, it works just as well for longer stays as it does for short ones. You get the flexibility of an apartment with the reliability of a hotel, all in a thoughtfully designed space that feels modern but warm.
For what I paid, and for what I got, it’s one of the best-value stays I’ve had in Paris. And after five Locke stays across three countries, this one is officially my favorite.
